Overcoming Pain with Gentle Yoga: A DVD with Neil Pearson.

By Mugs

pearsonNeil Pearson is an internationally recognized speaker on chronic pain, and is at the forefront of physiotherapy pain management. His DVD “Overcoming Pain with Gentle Yoga” is an excellent introduction to yoga for people who are suffering from chronic pain, or yoga teachers who have students trying to cope with pain and wish to overcome it.

The DVD includes 3 gentle asana classes focusing on breath awareness, body awareness and releasing unnecessary tension it may hold, and freedom beyond pain. Anyone who has experienced chronic pain knows that it becomes difficult to imagine what it would be like without pain. The simple, slow movements give the student time to explore the body safely, without moving into pain, finding the “just right” spot in each pose. This gentle process allows the nervous system to remain calm as the student creates new movement patterns in their body.

The first track helps you to understand how chronic pain affects the nervous system and gives clear guidance into how you can begin to change your body’s responses to pain. The next 3 tracks guide you through gentle yoga practices that teach postures to calm the nervous system and retrain it so it won’t move into high alert.

I highly recommend this DVD for caregivers, physiotherapists, yoga teachers and students. To order a copy, please contact Neil Pearson using the contact information below.
