Yoga Teacher Training Program
We are a Registered Yoga School (RYS®) with the Yoga Alliance at the RYT200® and RYT500® hour levels. It is designed so working people who have families and/or other commitments can become Teachers of Yoga, and not have to leave home for an extended length of time. Our training is available in several locations throughout BC and Alberta, as well as by Distance Educationfor those students who do not have access to one of our Teacher Training locations. It is also recognized by the Yoga Association of BC (YABC) and The International Yoga Teachers’ Association (IYTA). There are a few specific features about our Teacher Training Program that make it different from most:
- It is inclusive of many styles of Hatha Yoga and incorporates thorough study of Yoga Philosophy.
- It is designed so working people who have families and/or other commitments can become Teachers of Yoga and not have leave home for an extended length of time.
- Our training is available in several locations throughout BC and Alberta at both the 200 hour and 500 hour levels. Normal completion of the program will take between 1.5 to 2 years.
- Our Teacher Training can be completed through Distance Education. This format is recognized by YABC, YAA, and IYTA. It is currently under review by Yoga Alliance
For these reasons we are proud to say we have trained many Yoga Teachers who otherwise would not have been able to become certified!
One outstanding aspect of the SOYA Teacher Training Program is that it encompasses unity in all yogis, regardless of their paths and styles of yoga (“The paths are many but the Truth is One.” Swami Sivananda). A student can have their preference of Hatha Yoga style and attend instruction with Independent SOYA Faculty members who are trained in that style. As well, you learn the philosophical background and professionalism that is necessary for all teachers of Hatha Yoga!
This program is also the first step towards International Certification with the International Yoga Teachers’ Association (IYTA). All of the SOYA Teacher Trainers are ERYT with the Yoga Alliance and certified with the International Yoga Teachers’ Association (IYTA). We have been training teachers since 1995. See their Feedback.
