Conscious Living In Times Of Change

Hidden Language Hatha Yoga with Swami Sukhananda

Join SOYA and our special guest presenter for a weekend yoga retreat that is like no other! Through Swami Sukhananda you can experience the authentic ancient teachings of Yasodhara Yoga first-hand. Yasodhara Yoga is a reflective, spiritual approach to yoga that integrates body, mind and speech. By integrating yogic practices with personal development techniques, Yasodhara Yoga encompasses the teachings of the East and translates them for our Western situation.

This gentle and intimate, yet profound, approach is unique. The teachings are brought to life through self-reflection (Svadhyaya) as taught by Swami Sivananda to his closest disciples in the Rishikesh Ashram. They are passed on through Swami Radha to Sukhananda who brings them to you today. Yasodhara Yoga practices will help guide you to your own inner wisdom.

Hidden Language Hatha Yoga starts with the very personal – your observations, your mind, your body, your relationship to the world. And it expands out to the universal, to the mythologies of our cultures, to the subtle force sustaining all life. The asanas are practiced not only for their physical benefits, but also to understand the psychological and symbolic meanings, to learn how each asana can increase spiritual awareness.

For those accustomed to physically intense or rigorous Hatha traditions, Hidden Language will be a change of pace, a chance to go deeper into the body and the mystical potential of each asana.

“Our consciousness is like a drop of Cosmic Consciousness. As human beings, we have a desire to return to the source, to the ocean of Light. Each of us travels by different means. The vehicle is of our own making, fired by desire, fired by illusions, fired by a powerful determination to find out, to know, to get there.”
~Swami Sivananda Radha

Meet Our Special Guest

Swami Sukhananda

Swami Sukhananda first met Swami Radha in 1988 and was deeply moved by her experience. She has been living and teaching yoga at the Ashram and in Europe ever since. Sukhananda was formerly an adviser to governments on sustainability, environmental and organizational issues. She is a historian whose articles about Swami Radha’s work have appeared in British and North American yoga magazines. She enjoys the beauty of the Ashram, and is continually inspired by yoga and by witnessing its transformative effects.

Swami Sukhananda’s workshops are accessible to all sincere seekers and often provide a valuable opportunity for yoga teachers to deepen their own understanding of the practical application of the ancient teachings of yoga in 21st Century western daily life.
